Mission Share Matters

The connectional system and Mission Shares (formerly known as apportionments) are two of the defining traits of United Methodism. They allow local churches to reach beyond their walls and be in ministry in significant ways in their backyards and across the globe.
The United Methodist Church's special giving structure ensures your generosity blesses as many people as possible in sustainable, strategic ways. Through the support of you, and your church, we fund hundreds of projects each year.
WHY WE GIVE
We give to minister in Jesus’ name. Together, United Methodists do remarkable ministry around the world. We care for survivors recovering from earthquakes and storms; we invest, long term, in vulnerable communities; we implement the most effective solutions to diseases like malaria; we equip the next generation to lead the church and society. In all of this, we share the good news of Jesus Christ.
We give because God first gave to us. Thank you for your generous support and witness!

WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR MONEY?
About 11 cents of every dollar put in the local church collection plate support General Church and Conference Mission Shares. Together, these pennies are transforming the world.  For more information log on to www.bwcumc.org

Restructuring Information—BWC
(Baltimore Washington Conference) Posted  Nov 02, 2023

Bishop shares opportunity for restructuring to make BWC more mission minded, Spirit-driven and Christ-centered

In a message to the laity and clergy of the Baltimore-Washington Conference, Bishop LaTrelle Easterling invites area United Methodists to imagine, dream and vision a new way forward.

She and a task force of conference leaders are proposing a restructuring of the Conference. The change in the structure was precipitated by natural attrition and provides an opportunity to examine how to best resource districts and local churches for greater strength and vitality.

The annual conference is the basic body of the church. Its purpose is singular -- to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by equipping its local churches and other faith partners for fruitful mission and ministry.

In the season ahead, input will be sought from all interested parties through surveys, listening sessions and small group conversations. The restructuring proposal, designed to help United Methodists reclaim their fire and passion, is expected to be brought to the 2024 session of the Baltimore-Washington Conference in May.  (For more information, go to website to see the Bishop’s video www.bwcumc.org)
